“Long-term and daily use of molecular hydrogen induces reprogramming of liver metabolism in rats by modulating NADP/NADPH redox pathways”

…“Rats exposed 2h daily to H2 either by drinking HRW (H2 dissolved in H2O) or by breathing 4% H2 gas showed reduced lipogenesis and enhanced lipolysis in the liver, which was associated with apparent loss of visceral fat and brown adipose tissue together with a reduced level of serum lipids.”…

Amazon has several H2 water testers. It has 3 other functions including pH. The pH test is accurate, so I assume the H2 test is accurate. It detected the H2 made from the magnesium rods. It is very easy and convenient to use.

The spec on mine is:

Do you inhale H2 or take in drinking water?

A mixture of H2, O2 and normal air.

Have you felt any subjective benefits from drinking hydrogen water?

After looking at some papers, the hydrogen water tablets are the way to go as they produce much more hydrogen in the water than most inexpensive machines.

However, the cost of the amount of tablets used in studies makes them a bit pricey.

“Compared to other hydrogen tech, HRW tablets are clinically validated and proven to deliver up to 12.4ppm in 500mL – outperforming pouches, ionizers, and bottles by upwards of 10 or even 100s of times”

At least one study used the hydrogen-producing tablets.

“High-concentration HRW was prepared via hydrogen-producing tablets”

“The participants consumed 1 tablet 3 x daily in 250 mL of 12-18°C water. They were advised to drink the product in one gulp as soon as the tablet finished dissolving on an empty stomach/morning.”

"There are no official guidelines for how much hydrogen water to drink to obtain potential benefits.

However, most of the research on hydrogen water has used dosages of 0.5–1 mg/kg of body weight.

For a 150 lb (68 kg) person, that would equal 34–68 mg of hydrogen.

To get 68 mg of hydrogen, you’d need to drink approximately 2.5 liters of water with 0.8 ppm hydrogen concentration.

Higher concentrations near 4–5 ppm may provide benefits with smaller volumes of water. But more research is needed on optimal dosing."

FWIW

The explosive range for hydrogen gas is 4% to 75% - If hydrogen mix is above a 75% mix is non-flammable, will not ignite

Mix or purchased a gas mix of 80/20;
80% hydrogen/20% oxygen
Normal air is 19% oxygen, 79% nitrogen

And breathe through a demand regular{as not to waste gas] or free flo oral nasal mask

Yes I have chronic fatigue and just listened to someone who bought some tablets to make her water but they are expensive and contain sucrulose and thought, I bet the Rapamycin group has a thread on this.

I watched this video on hydrogen water, and it got me interested. So I found this thread.

Anyone have any idea if something like this bottle on Amazon would have any real benefits? It’s got very good reviews, but I don’t trust them for some reason.

Are you not afraid of other heavy metals or contaminants in the rods?

I have been trying hydrogen water, also known as hydrogen-rich water (HRW) or hydrogenated water, which is regular water that has molecular hydrogen gas (H2) added to it.

Water can be hydrogenated by dissolving molecular hydrogen gas into water under elevated pressure, resulting in a supersaturated solution.

So a very health conscious Marine buddy that I turned onto rapamycin a few years ago - surprised me with a gift.

A device that makes hydrogen rich water in minutes. He touts that his health buddies use the hydrogen-rich water to take supplements - making them more effective. I checked it out – you can get them on Amazon.

They run about $30 - $50 not bad rechargeable. Since receiving it - I have been taking my nightly supplements using the water from this device.

Benefits are as noted in other posts: anti-inflammatory, physical endurance, exercise capacity, reduced cardiovascular disease, better liver function, COVID-19 recovery, mental health, anti-aging, and oxidative stress

Also, there is an easy test to know if you are getting true HRW (hydrogen-rich water) after making a batch of water put a drop of Methylene Blue MB. If your water is hydrogenated it will go clear.

H2 reduces MB (blue) to leucoMB (colorless) . Early during the titration (MB-Pt reagent dropped into hydrogen-rich water), the solution contains more hydrogen than MB. Hence, MB is reduced to leucoMB and the solution is colorless. At the titration endpoint, the solution contains more MB than hydrogen; hence, it turns blue. 1. Drop an MB-Pt into hydrogen-rich water. 2. Hydrogen-rich water is colored by the blue of MB-Pt. 3. Immediately, blue turns colorless by hydrogen.

Giving it a try - any thoughts???

Tonight when I made my hydrogen-rich water, I added a drop of MB.

The blue was lighter in the hydrogen-rich water.

To be more clear… might need more hydrogen… the more expensive machines give more H2.

I wonder if some of it is ionised in some way. I cannot think how, however.

@John_Hemming

But @Agetron I wouldn’t wait around to perform MB experiments with hydrogenated water. The hydrogen evaporates fast — you’re supposed to chug it right away. Also maybe look into whether your hydrogen water generator isolates the ozone byproduct properly. Most cheaper versions don’t.

It is supposed to end up with H2 rather than H+, however.

Oh I see what you mean. In his case I suspect it’s the ozone that’s got the positive charge and isn’t properly sequestered. That’s one of the byproducts of electrolysis.

Hello Medaura - I agree… as soon as it is done I slam it down - while still bubbling.

I even re-ran the sample in the hydrogen-rich process and it did have some clearing. I do think a more expensive machine could do more. As a gift - I think it is okay.
