I concede that it may be possible.
I think I’m going to take a multivitamin (Centrum Silver 50+ men) to cover the bases I am not already covering and so I can stop taking vitamin K, iodine, zinc, and B vitamins as separate supplements. That’ll be a big cost saving. It’ll also cover things I am currently not supplementing like lycopene, potassium, Mo, Manganese, etc…
And it’s cheap as chips at $0.09 a day. It’s a no-brainer for health, cost (and space) savings.

What is the reason why you do not recommend vitamin E? Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that prevents lipid oxidation in the cell.

A multivitamin is a good idea for multiple reasons:
- Ease-of-use, combine supplements like zinc and iodine to one supplement.
- Get vitamins you might not otherwise get in diet, isn’t necessary to track and eat perfectly.
- Lower cost because of first point.
- Shown benefits in trials, but would be good either way.

Whoa…you just made @SNK sound a lot more intelligent…how’d you do that?
But, seriously, on the subject of Vitamin E, see this post for all the reasons that Vitamin E supplements are not recommended for people that are healthy.

For some reason that quote is in Turkish for me, until I expand the quote.

If you don’t get enough vitamin E you get a deficiency. Food and supplements are the same, so you can get it from a multi or food. I don’t want pay attention to what I eat like a hawk so a multi works for me.

How much glycine do you typically supplement @Joseph_Lavelle , and when? I take 3,000 mg several night a week but I’m contemplating changing to a daily regimen to offset methionine rather than trying to lower dietary methionine so much. Is that what you are doing? It seems to me that taking glycine on an empty stomach, perhaps AM and PM would still be advised, on balance.

Organizational question for the hive mind…
I just found out how many taurine capsules I’m supposed to be taking and feeling overwhelmed about how to try to get everything in on a daily basis…
I’m searching Amazon now for pill organizers, but I’m sure many of you have tried it all and might have some great recommendations on how you do it.
I just saw these which seem nice (space for many pills)

An aside: I’ve seen a couple of great threads on your top supplements, but do we have one on what doses you like and why ? Thank you!
You mention Hyaluronic Acid, as a supplement. Are you taking it orally? If so, are you able to isolate any effects from taking it, positive or negative?
I use Hyaluronic Acid 2% over my entire body post shower, while still wet, avoiding sensitive areas and it’s had a remarkable impact on my skins elasticity and firmness. I do live in a humid-temperate area, so I haven’t seen associated dryness that comes with use in more arid areas.

Afaik topical hyaluronic acid doesn’t work at all but oral hyaluronic acid does. The molecular weight apparently doesn’t matter as the gut bacteria breaks down the larger molecules regardless.

I don’t think that’s quite true.
Clinical Evaluation of Next-generation, Multi-weight Hyaluronic Acid Plus Antioxidant Complex-based Topical Formulations with Targeted Delivery to Enhance Skin Rejuvenation
Clinical grading revealed a statistically significant improvement in facial dryness, roughness, fine lines, and wrinkles as early as Week 2, with further improvements by Week 4. The improvements in moisture were significant, with hydration levels increased by up to 256% compared to the untreated controls.

Then there is this study where no statistically significant result was found between topical HA and placebo. They of course try to spin it positively in their abstract and conclusion as it is a company-funded study.
Furthermore, it is difficult to assess the improvement of a topical agent because these are usually subtle effects that might be difficult to capture; other studies have reported issues.28, 31,32 Additionally, the grading scale used to measure efficacy was not sensitive enough to detect differences between the active group and the placebo group. Our study duration was only 60 days, which might not have been long enough to assess the potential of the active topical ingredients to improve skin aging on the neck. Lastly, one of the limitations of the study was the small sample size.

Both studies seemed to be funded by skincare companies.
I’ll continue using topically, as I’ve experienced nice results.
Thanks for the info!

Taurine and Coffee are synergistic. That’s what I do. I scoop 6 g of nutricost powder into my second coffee of the day which I take several hours after my first coffee which has glycine and collagen.

hi @Beth , i’m late to find your post, but, if you still take Taurine, have you since tried taking a Powder? -
AllMax brand makes one that is Not made from animal sources, and has No Taste,
it’s pleasnt to use, and when I am on it I take either 1tsp (or 3/4 tsp, if i have a measuring spoon available), up to 3 times a day…
…for me, any less capsules i can take, is a relief…
hope this helps you …thank you for your past support… warmest regards…

I appreciate the idea! After my battle with creatine, I’ve learned I’m pretty sensitive to taste, but there is a chance this might work for me.
I’m taking 6 capsules with my other evening pills and am now used to throwing back handfuls of them. If I should ever start taking them earlier in the day, I”ll give the powder in a drink a try. Thx again
