What does everyone think on Rapamune that has slightly expired in terms of its potency?

I purchased 2 boxes (100 tabs each) of Rapamune 1mg a year ago. I finished one box and started the second one, but the expiration date was October 2023. I just continued taking it passed the date because I’m not too worried about the Pfizer Rapamune. I think it still worked if it expired for a bit, yet, how would I know if I didn’t measure via the sirolimus blood sample?

If anyone has access to that bloodwork and tried measuring it after a dose of expired Rapamune, what were the results?

IMO, the “real” expiration of most medicines is quite longer than written besides for sterile solutions and compounded drugs which actually do expire at the date written.

I have no concerns about recently expired sirolimus… but haven’t done any testing to validate efficacy.

Most of what is known about drug expiration dates comes from a study conducted by the Food and Drug Administration at the request of the military. With a large and expensive stockpile of drugs, the military faced tossing out and replacing its drugs every few years. What they found from the study is 90% of more than 100 drugs, both prescription and over-the-counter, were perfectly good to use even 15 years after the expiration date.

So, the expiration date doesn’t really indicate a point at which the medication is no longer effective or has become unsafe to use. Medical authorities state if expired medicine is safe to take, even those that expired years ago. A rare exception to this may be tetracycline, but the report on this is controversial among researchers. It’s true the effectiveness of a drug may decrease over time, but much of the original potency still remains even a decade after the expiration date. Excluding nitroglycerin, insulin, and liquid antibiotics, most medications are as long-lasting as the ones tested by the military. Placing a medication in a cool place, such as a refrigerator, will help a drug remain potent for many years.

Just got my first order of Rapacan (Biocon) from India. It took 12 days to get here (Philadelphia, PA). I ordered 100 pills.
Super excited

Who was your supplier, shipper and method of payment? Very helpful to know all these things. TIA

Sorry for not adding this info earlier.
I ordered 100 pills from Jagdish (RL Pharma) - they were suggested here on the forum as a reliable supplier.
Shipped with EMS - again as suggested here.
I paid via Wise. It was the cheapest option. I think I had to pay only 3$ on top. I checked also Revolut, but they wanted 25$ for the transfer.
Weird fact: those pills have a pretty prominent smell of indian essential oils. The pills were on the console next to the entrance, and the person who entered asked me if I used some kind of aromatherapy.

Thats funny… probably stored close to some Indian essential oils in the guys bedroom. I’ve travelled in India, and while there are many very modern areas of India, much of the country looks just like this (below).

Its also funny about these resellers… These are tiny companies (some may be just individuals working at home). When you see these companies, just keep in mind that these are much more like buying off Craigslist.org than buying from Amazon, Walmart, etc. Its not a big deal as they are just middlemen, but if they don’t respond for a week, they may just be on vacation, or something.

If you go to the RL Pharma website: R L Pharma - Wholesale Trader of Anti-Cancer & Pharmaceutical Tablet from Nagpur

Click on the “location Button” under the name and it takes you to google maps, and an address of: Rachana Vishwa Apartment, Katol Rd, KT Nagar, Nagpur, Maharashtra 440013, India

Then, you click on a street view and see this:

and here is Niba Healthcare’s global headquarters… looks to be an apartment in Nagpur.

Thanks a lot for this super interesting info.
I expected that this would be just a regular reseller and not an actual big company. And it’s absolutely fine by me.
(Btw the smell is almost gone, so yeah, it was probably just stored somewhere next to essential oil. And we (as in my household) assume that it’s a smell of neem)

I also email Biocon. I don’t know what I exactly expect, but I asked them if there is a way I can verify that the drug is legit.
But the packaging and everything looks fine

Thanks very much for the helpful information. Did anyone use ACH or wire transfer via WiSE? TIA

Looks like March is 13 days! Better get those orders in before March!

Maybe I need to work in India…

I’ve sat for many hours in government offices in India (long story), the level of English Bureaucracy they’ve also inherited in their government is also astounding.

@sudiki I’ve ordered five times from india (first Jagdish Nikose, then I switched to Apple). Package has come every time. It’s taken between 20 and 41 days to arrive to west coast USA.

I used to worry. Now I don’t. You are in good company.

Understand that the folks we buy from there know that we report back. They want us happy.

Whether it gets through your customs is another matter. But you can only do so much.

Would love some insight on your move from Jagdish to Apple. I just placed my first order with Jagdish :fearful:

You didn’t say why you switched to Apple.
I have been ordering from Jagdish Nikose for over two years with zero problems.
Delivery to the Far West USA has never taken longer than 30 days, most of my orders arrive in less than eighteen days and I have never had a problem with customs.
What problems did you have with Jagdish? I use other vendors sometimes for products that Jagdish does not supply.

@Kelsey asked a similar question.

I want to be clear that this is just my experience. Many folks like Jagdish, and I don’t want to jeopardize any relationships. If it’s working for you, that’s what matters, and you can skip the rest of this post.

To reassure you, I had multiple successful shipments from Jagdish. Delivery was fine. He (I assume) was fast to reply to email.

However, I was repeatedly frustrated trying to get information from him to complete payment. When I was just starting and asked for other payment options, I got an info dump that wasn’t helpful. When I asked for address and bank numbers, it came to me as images, so I had to type the numbers myself, introducing possible errors, making the process more stressful. There were other issues, all communication-based.

So when I saw a post from someone who was happy with the Apple vendor, I reached out, and found him (I assume) responsive, clear, fast, and without these issues.

The delivery quality has been about the same–very good (yes, Jagdish’s deliveries have scent to them, but that doesn’t matter to me.) Both sent me proof of shipment. But I find the engagement with Apple more to my liking and paid similar. (Or less when I found a lower price and Apple was willing to match; for all I know J would have done the same.) But the $$ difference is small; I’d be happy to pay a few bucks more for a smoother interaction.

The only minor oddity was that last order, he wanted me to order more quantity. I had asked for 200, he urged me to order 400 or 500. I declined, pointing out that I didn’t want to order more than i might lose in customs. He accepted my answer. (Though I might order more next time, if he’s willing to guarantee the delivery.)

Does this answer?

My latest order with Jagdish has been stuck in customs for 30 days. No word from US Customs about anything. Fingers crossed.

Hi @Stoic, that’s a really good price for acarbose do you mind asking who your supplier is ?

Was it U.S. or India customs? I had a couple of shipments delayed in India because of a supposed holiday. I have never had any problems with U.S. customs (fingers crossed)
Are you ordering large quantities? My packages are generally around 4x6x8", but occasionally I have received larger packages but nothing bigger than~ 6x8x10".

US Customs is where it’s been stuck for 30 days. It was a bit bigger than the previous orders. After asking for 300 ea of 2 items, I asked Jagdish if he was worried about the package size getting held. He said to reduce the order size to 200x2 to remove risk.

Thank you, sol. Very helpful. This also answered my question about ordering strategy to manage risk of orders being held up as reported by many of you. Much appreciated
