That is exactly how I do it. After a fair bit is released in one location I rub it (using the bottle more upright so no more lotion is released) and rub it into my hair. I rarely use my fingers. Seems to work just fine.

Did you quit ( or limit ) coffee intake as they suggest ? As so far I didn’t …
hoping it would work anyhow

No. I didn’t know about the coffee thing. I tend to be a green tea drinker but often have coffee too.

interesting, wasn’t aware they recommend limiting coffee intake? Out of curiosity (anyone can chime in) does coffee make/help hair go grey? any studies on this? I do drink at least 3 cups daily, sometimes more.

Yes in instructions ( in box but also on website ) they say :
“ During the course of treatment, it is recommended to: reduce the consumption of coffee, alcohol, as well as to discontinue smoking.“
Good to know it works for you also with coffee then , as I was not yet ready to drop my morning coffees for it
(Just checked the internet and just found some ( non- scientific) articles on this …)

btw, it is a dye but a more natural looking one. It is not a permanent solution, but it does work as claimed and no mess to clean.

turning all hair black within two weeks.
As my hair is (or was) ginger, my friends and family would find this very surprising. =)
I’ve ignored that since I started using this stuff in November. No idea if I’d have had better results if I hadn’t, but I like my coffee.

I bought a bottle of GR-7 a while back and was immediately suspicious that this stuff is just a standard, very mild hair dye. The directions say to only apply it to hair that is at least a certain length (can’t remember if it was 1cm or 1inch, but if it’s working at the level of the follicle to increase pigment, why should this matter?). Also, if it’s working at the level of the follicle then how in the world could we expect to see ANY results until weeks at the very least, and even then, we should expect to see the BASE of the hair shaft darker while the remainder of the hair is still gray.
For me, I saw a very mild but noticeable “light browning” of my gray hairs on my temporal scalp and sideburns where I applied the product twice daily for a week and then once daily for another couple of weeks. The browning affected all the hairs evenly within about a week, not just the base of the hair shafts. I also noticed that my skin below my sideburns turned brown where it had dripped down.
So, is this stuff just an overpriced hair dye?

There’s been a lot of speculation about its actual mechanism in other threads on this site, but regardless of that, I’d say I don’t care because it functions as a more natural looking dye. The initial starter application is expensive, but for maintenance, if you’re doing it twice a week, I think it’s pretty reasonable compared to more conventional alternatives like Simpler Hair Color or Just for Men. One bottle is about 30 applications for me, so at 2x a week I get 15 weeks. Buy 4 bottles at a time to get the discount and it’s not a bad deal. Plus, the ingredients are mild in comparison to other options.

I guess if the end result is safe, effective and affordable then that’s what’s most important, but I still can’t help but feel bitter about giving money to a company IF their marketing is a lie.

I also noticed the logic fault in their wording. If it works at the cellular level rather than just as a dye then the hair length should be irrelevant.
I have applied it as directed to my white temple areas. There has been a slow darkening, but it does look “natural” rather than as if one has applied boot-polish.
Having said all that, hair is hair and I am puzzled as to why it does not change the colour of facial hair such as a moustache. The brown colouration of my temples ends abruptly where the hair transitions to facial hair; ie, where “sideburns” start.

$75 for a month supply
OR
$2/month
oral finasteride - year supply $8 from CostPlus
Topical minoxidil - year supply from Costco $18
vitamins/AA’s=BS
Why would anyone want to use oral minoxidil and deal with side effects is beyond me.

The doses we prescribe for hair loss are much lower than the hypertension dose, so risk of side effects is quite minimal (although never zero, of course). It also tends to work better, and it’s so much easier for most people to take 1/2 or 1 small pill daily than to have one’s hair and scalp sticky and irritated once or twice daily. I prefer the tablet, and so do most of my patients, though I always have the risk/benefit/side effect discussion first.

“To each their own” I suppose.
Given the proven efficacy and wide OTC availability of topical minoxidil with near zero systemic effects it makes sense for most people.

That is exactly the results I get. My guess as to why the facial hair is not changing color may have to do with the fact that usually facial hair is thicker, plus facial hair is shorter in length (in my case). And if they are claiming that this will work at the follicle level that is the biggest BS. It is simple a hair color dye that does a really good job for some certain hair color/types (including my hair color). I have to assume that different color hairs may not get same/best results.
I didn’t use it for about six weeks just to see what happens and actually the root of hair shaft turned white, while the top of the hair shafts started turning light reddish color as opposed to my original hair color. So clearly this is absolutely nothing but a hair dye which really works for some people. The high price is manageable for me since I only use a little on the sides, and one bottle will easy last me over a full year. Plus, the fact that I don’t even touch the product (apply it with the neck of the bottle) and have no need to clean after at all, that is win also. For me the color of my hair is so original that you can NOT tell I’m using anything on my hair. Even the pictures (before and after that @Joseph_Lavelle posted) it clearly shows that it did and amazing job for his type/color of hair in my opinion. I doubt he would have gotten same results (that natural looking) with any other dyes out there. that is my to cents, but again the claim that this works on follicle is simply not true.

I understand and agree. I hope they at least believe their own marketing. To quote the philosopher, George Costanza, “It’s not a lie… if you believe it.”
I’ve been taking 1.25mg a day, afraid to go higher because I’m also on 5mg of daily tadalafil. My doctor isn’t concerned but I’m cautious whenever potential side effects mention the heart. What’s the lowest effective dose you prescribe for men? I understand 2.5 to be typical.

For men, I start at 1.25mg and typically give it a full 6 months before considering bumping it up to a whole 2.5 mg tablet. Some prescribe up to 5mg daily, but that’s getting a little out of my comfort zone, at least until I see more data on comparative safety/efficacy of 2.5 vs 5mg.

damn that tadalafil thing. Holly cow it crippled me for couple weeks, very severe joint and muscle/leg pain, absolutely unbearable pain that did not go away with anything at all, I tried it all [pain killers, numbing, hot cold cream and many other things still nothing worked. I really wish it did not have that side effect since I have prostate family history. Since we are on the subject does anyone know if Viagra help with prostate same as Cialis. I don’t have major side effect from Viagra other than a bit of heartburn, that gets better by sipping water.
