In a Facebook group, one person said he takes his once per week rapamycin dosage (6 mg. once per week) with olive oil, and says it has better bioavailibility that way?

Are others also doing that? Is there any scientific basis for it?

Thank you.

Yes - that’s true. See this thread: Improve Bioavailability of Rapamycin (2)

I plop my Rapamycin pills in a shot of EVOO and then down it. The EVOO is supposed to increase the effective dose by 0.5X. I also use grapefruit juice an hour before taking Rapamycin, increasing the bioavailability by 3X. So, by doing both, I figure my bioavailability is about 3.5X higher than taking the pills themselves.

So, my 4 mg of weekly Rapamycin becomes an equivalent dose of 14 mg (4mg * 3.5)

Metformin an hour before dosing Rapamycin also increases bioavailability, but I’m not sure how much. (I do this as well, and that could explain the hives at 5 and 6 mg)

Taking Turmeric/Curcumin an hour beforehand reduces bioavailability, so don’t do that.

What is EVOO? And why would you want to have itequivalent to 14 mg.? Might that not be too much?

EVOO is extra virgin olive oil.

Yes, 14 mg equivalent may be too much or not enough. We don’t know for sure yet. 14 mg doesn’t give me any side effects of consequence, and it doesn’t negativity affect my blood work any more than 9 mg does.

There is a Rapamycin line of thinking that believes more (without side effects) is better.

So are most users here taking their sirolimus tablets with olive oil? With a meal or on an empty stomach?

Have any Rapa doctors (Dr. Green, for example) or researchers (such as Matt Kaeberlein) recommended that to patients?

I take it with olive oil to slow down and increase the absorption as explained here: Taking Rapamycin on an empty stomach - #13 by cl-user

Not sure. I will include this question in my next poll. I take it with a fatty meal, eg sardines.
