Yes does seems kinda high. pills of 5 mg per week?
Some podcast with Peter Attia and Matt Kaeberlein say women might do well or better on less than men.
5 mg once a week or once every 10 days is plenty for many on here.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I think I’ve experienced this lowering of my weight set point. For the first 6 months that I was on Rapa I actually gained a bit and fluctuated 5-7 pounds higher than normal but in the last year I’ve lost 13-17 pounds from the initial gain and specifically in the last 6 months I’ve noticed I have to be diligent with eating quite a bit to maintain a BMI of 18.5. If I just eat what my natural appetite leads me to eat my weight drops to 94-95 pounds. This has happened 3 times this year. It’s very interesting.

New here and started rapamycin anti-aging protocol with weaning up from 2mg to a 8mg. I wanted to share my experience in case it resonates with folks, I have read a few have experienced similar stuff, especially women on the forum. I am 37.
I have been taking it once a week since Oct 5th, 2024. I have not changed much by way of diet and have gained 7 lbs. Before starting rapamycin I was hovering around 135 lbs. Did a DEXA scan and already had very close to 0 visceral fat and 20.7% overall body fat before taking rapamycin.
I am ravenous all. the. damn. time now.
I walk 10K+ a day and do fairly intense workouts 2 to 3 times a week (boxing, circuit training, weight lifting, spin class). This level of activity is not new.
I know my resting metabolic rate is fairly low. Got that measured in September and it’s 1289 cals/day if I am just breathing and not doing anything. But I have not had to watch the amount of calories I consume in ages. I had it pretty dialed in.
I am back to tracking every single thing I eat and trying to keep my calories ~1600-1800 a day (based on workout/non workout days). But I am very curious to see if the magical weight set point is going to lower after a few more months.

I get it… ravenous, only I don’t stop myself… could be guy metabolism…but, I don’t gain permanently when I over eat… holidays…travel… or miss meals… hovering at 183 to 185. My rapamycin weight setpoint.
Before rapamycin was hovering closer to 200 pounds… started losing visceral fat after 3 months… lost 25 pounds… and stopped… 185.
Can eat almost anything all day long… everything looks good.
Lean mass or fat mass gain?

FYI, I started rapa in April and by aprox June/July, I had gained 4 pounds.
For years, I’ve tended to fluctuate 3-5 pounds in either direction, so I can’t be sure about my correlation, but the timing was very suspicious.

I doubt it would be lean gain mass that fast. Muscle takes much longer time to build. I would consider I may be holding on to water weight, but I know what that feels and looks like and this ain’t it.
I’m measuring my waist to keep track and definitely gained about a half an inch there. I will be doing another DEXA scan at some point, but was probably thinking to wait at least a half a year.

I was at my set point before rapamycin. I pretty much ate whatever and stayed around 135lbs for several years now.
Your resting metabolic rate is probably higher than mine. My husband measured his, at only a few inches taller than me his RMR is a whopping 1600 cals/day he can eat an extra burger without moving a muscle than me. So definitely something there for guys. Men generally have larger organs/higher lean muscle mass and thus expend more energy than women.
