No interference effect after all

The science has been pointing at this for a while (this study is actually not new but I don’t recall seeing it before). Even bodybuilders are doing some cardio these days to improve recovery. I often do a spin class and a weight lifting session back to back these days. In the past I was very careful to separate them.

Yeah, some years ago, I saw yt videos showing lectures by a guy who studied this issue, and basically came to the conclusion that for the majority of people and athletes there is no interference effect, except under special circumstances. So for years now I’ve followed my weight training with jogging a few hours later. Never felt any negative impact, if anything, it felt like it was beneficial to have blood circulate in my legs a few hours after heavy weight squats.

I still spend a lot of time in the bodybuilding community and am in some private chat groups with “influencers” and coaches because enhanced or natural, they really know how to achieve body composition goals efficiently. The consensus on cardio has definitely shifted shifted in recent years, I think because of harm-reduction focused youtubers who advocate for mandatory daily cardio (in addition to many of the same drugs so many on this forum use). Their cardio recommendations are pretty mainstream, usually something like ~80/20 zone2/HIIT. Most are doing fasted cardio first thing in the morning under the belief that their HGH injections will give them a lipolysis boost under those conditions, but regardless, the well publicized heart attacks really scared them straight.
