Sorry, most anything at your age will increase or decrease libido. It sounds like you are chasing the libido you had when you were 18. Well, unfortunately, as we age, libido decreases. What do you think contributes to the demand for rhinoceros horns and goat gonads?
At your age, pictures alone can significantly influence your libido by either raising or lowering it. There is such a plethora of things that will do this that your N=1 observation that magnesium glycinate lowers your libido is probably just coincidental.
âMagnesium glycinate is a form bound to glycine, which has calming properties and may promote deeper sleep. Improved sleep can indirectly support libido, as poor sleep is associated with lower testosterone.â
Glycine, the amino acid in magnesium glycinate, is an inhibitory neurotransmitter, but thereâs no evidence it suppresses libido. In fact, glycine has shown neuroprotective and cognitive-enhancing effects, not sexual suppression.
Maybe you are just misinterpreting the result. Some people may feel relaxed or sedated after taking magnesium glycinate, which might lead to a temporary reduction in arousal or interest, especially if taken right before bed. This is not the same as a suppression of libido but rather a transient state of calm or sleepiness, which could be said of many forms of magnesium.
âThere is currently no strong evidence that taking magnesium glycinate before sleep reduces male libido. In fact, some data suggest that magnesium may support healthy testosterone levels and sleep quality, both of which can positively influence libido.â
If you have any studies that contradict this, please post them.
âOur results show that supplementation with magnesium increases free and total testosterone values in sedentary and in athletes. The increases are higher in those who exercise than in sedentary individuals.â
