Good podcast, he was a little generic on the adjective ‘bitter’, including the bitterish polyphenols of EVOO and others. I think buckwheat and other bitterish whole grains would belong to the GLP1 stimulating foods, with the really bitter and pungent ones maybe releasing spikes of this peptide.
Grapefruit is an example. Other fruit would include bergamot and lemon. There are many bitter vegetables like chicory and dandelion.

One thing I noticed right away is that two of these foods are associated with blue zones.
Bitter Gourd is a staple of Okinawans. They believe it is incredibly healthy, and it is.
Wild Greens of Ikaria is a staple of Ikarians.
Could this be the true secret of the blue zones?
Eat Less. Live Longer. (Made easier by GLP1/GLPs)

I always wondered why grapefruit eliminated my hunger. Years ago the “grapefruit diet” was a big deal …it sounded ridiculous to me until I tried it.

A little OT but I’m wondering if berberine as well, although a supplement and not a food, stimulates GLP1-RAs and other similar peptides. I’ve started taking it a couple of months ago and as soon as I increased the dosage (presently 800 mg/d) it seemed to provide some appetite suppression. I’ll have to keep on to be sure of this anecdotal observation. Not very good news for me, who is probably naturally expressing lots of GLP1-RAs, but maybe a good addition to the next cycle of Fast Mimicking Diet.
