I’ve always had calcium blood levels near or above the recommended levels (high> 10.5 mg/dL) going back to 2015. Recently my calcium level is always above 10.5 and I started addressing it with my doctor. She conducted a PHT test (hyperparathyroidism) and I came back high at 67 (range 15-65) and a 24-hr urine calcium test which came back quite high at 428 (range 0-320). Diagnosis was hyperparathyroidism. I then went to see an endocrinologist who had a both a bone scan done and a thyroid ultrasound scan done. Bone scan showed no osteoporosis and very slight reduction of bone density. Ultrasound was clean. I’m next scheduled for a nuclear CT scan (I forget the correct name) in about a week. Sort of a mixed bag of results.

So, about a month before my PTH and urine calcium tests I had stopped my vitamin D supplements because I’d only just found out that Vit D can affect blood calcium levels. I upped my Metformin from 500 to 1000mg about 1-1/2 years ago since I’m constantly at pre-diabetic levels and I truly want to get that down.

Could elevated calcium be the result of taking Metformin (1000mg/day) with Rapa? FWIW I currently take a fair number of medications/supplements, but nothing other than the Vit D seemed to have any published (that I know of) adverse affects.

Are there any other possible combinations that might be affecting my calcium levels???
