Walgreen’s has a website that reports flu activity in the US. I think it’s actually following Tamiflu prescriptions.
Influenza A is currently rather active and unvaccinated people are getting rather sick from it.

Here’s from July 2023 to June 2024 this year, we can see the whole winter season and others.
During the summer RV/EV and SARS-COV-2 is most positive.
Here during current season from July 2024 to end of Nov 2024 now
Relative large spread of RV/EV most recently seemingly starting after SARS-COV-2 decreasing.
If excluding those it looks like this:
Who knows what effects all of these different viruses have on i.e dementia risk of all kinds.
Rhinovirus and Enterovirus is spreading it seems by far the most. Adenovirus there’s a vaccine used by the U.S military.

@KarlT I find this fascinating. I would have thought it would be worse in the cold north east where everyone is inside now.
Any thoughts on why it’s mostly TX and LA?
I rarely get the flu vax, but now that you are saying people are getting really sick, I’ll consider it.
TMI, but my reasoning is:
I live in a low density area without much exposure to kids, so I rarely get sick… and because I try to avoid covid, I figure that act alone reduces my chance of getting the flu, too. I have vocal cord dysfunction, and if I get sick, it sets off a cough that lasts for months!

I had Influenza A a few years ago. It was not much fun.
I just was on MyChart and noticed I had the flu vaccine 3 months before catching Influenza A. Not sure what to think of that.

My understanding is that the virus likes warm humid environments, and this time of year people in south may still be clustered inside in the AC.

It’s the opposite. It spreads more easily in drier air. But climate control with indoor heat or AC, or a dehumidifier is going to modify that, anyway.

Hotez, is an expert, but a bit of a nut. He certainly could be right, but I doubt it, and I don’t rely on anything he says.

There are several and they are similar in effectiveness, the main difference being that you should get the high dose variant if you’re over age 65.

He is being very specific, it starts on Jan 21, the day after Trump Inauguration, sounded like a threat.
