Don’t know if it’s a good brand.

Thanks. I never heard of them. The “analysis” documentation was from 2 years ago. I hope someone will volunteer to be the test pilot.

Their website looks good - Nature’s Fusions - and they’re in Utah! The bottom COA from Summit is 12/23 so I’d say they look better than Lipmaxmall. Again hard to be sure with these unknown companies…we need a ConsumerLab test.

FWIW: I ordered a bottle of this unknown brand because it was on sale to give it a try.
The reviews look pretty good but who knows?
It is the brand that the tables came from.

I’ve taken NACET before. It is 10X more absorbable but it has only 10% of the NAC. So it’s a wash. It appears to be just as effective as NAC. It’s more expensive though.

They claim it crosses the BBB, regular NAC doesn’t.
They claim it causes more glutathione synthesis than NAC.
I don’t know if this is true, I am still investigating their claims.

I can’t comment on either of those. How exactly would you measure that? I’m not willing to do a brain biopsy.

I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt in that I value it as equal to regular NAC. They need some kind of marketing gimmick to justify the more expensive price.

From my father’s experience, regular old NAC raises glutathione just fine, so I’m just going to stick with that.

How will you assess its effectiveness? GGT is a marker of low glutathione / low antioxidant status

I bought and have been using this brand for a few weeks. I don’t notice any subjective difference but I never really do with supplements in general. I’m also 38 years old so I might not notice what someone older than me would notice.

NAC has a history of being researched as a medication for mental disorders. Bipolar-mania states, Schizophrenia, depression etc .

I find it unlikely that regular NAC or its metabolites don’t cross the BBB.

I tended to have mild OCD in the past. NAC stopped that cold.

Since then, I have learned that OCD really helped me at my job. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I get that!!! I have untreated ADD, and while it’s annoying, I believe it inexplicably contributed to my success at work… in addition to making some parts harder. Don’t ask how, I don’t know!

Wow, I knew GGT was important but I had no idea it could clue us in to our antioxidant status. I’m pretty thrilled my GGT result was only 10.

I guess the way to measure success would be a glutathione blood test. Unfortunately they’re expensive (mostly over $100). Marek is the cheapest - Glutathione (LC/MS) – Marek Diagnostics

I do get the GGT on my regular blood test but mine is below normal range (good?).

Of the 2 NACETS on Amazon, Nature’s Fusion (Nutri) is 3rd party tested so it’s the safer pick - but it’s much more expensive (60X50mg for $30) vs Lipmaxmall (60X100mg for $16).
Compared to regular NAC, and accepting the claimed 10x bioavailability (100mg NACET=1,000mg NAC), the NOW brand NAC on Amazon is $18.30 for 120X1,000mg, so, yes, much cheaper.

Here is the supplement write up for the natures fusion brand (the one I’ve been taking)

"Neuro-NAC, our Patent-Pending, novel lipophilic esterified form of NAC, NACET, is a revolutionary precursor to the most powerful antioxidant in the body, Glutathione. Glutathione is known as “The Mother of all Antioxidants”. NACET is backed by scientific research showing it’s superiority over NAC in almost every possible use by drastically increasing Glutathione intracellularly.**

Glutathione helps support optimal cellular health for brain, lung, and all other organs and tissues. NACET is an off-white powder with a strong Sulphur smell, which is one of the reasons why it works so well. The esterification process of NAC now uses sulphuric acid as a catalyst, thereby increasing the bioavailability by 20x. It’s 10x more bioavailable than liposomal glutathione, making it an extremely powerful anti aging supplement. NACET can increase Glutathione levels in cells by over 300%, where NAC only increases it by 10%.*

*Age and gender dependent levels of glutathione and glutathione S-transferases in human lymphocytes. Carcinogenesis. 1998 Oct;19(10):1873-5. doi: 10.1093/carcin/19.10.1873. PMID: 9806172.

**N-Acetylcysteine ethyl ester (NACET): a novel lipophilic cell-permeable cysteine derivative with an unusual pharmacokinetic feature and remarkable antioxidant potential. Biochem Pharmacol. 2012 Dec 1;84(11):1522-33. doi: 10.1016/j.bcp.2012.09.010. Epub 2012 Sep 20. PMID: 23000913."

The only thing I don’t love about it is it includes 50mcg Molybdenum, which I would rather not have because it can reduce copper levels.

So, it cost more but you get same. Not very convincing to switch to Nacet if that is the case. Though I must admit not a big fan of NAC nor Glycine.

How would one know that they have OCD or even ADD? Or is it simply you are nuts and then you must have some kind of disorder? I always wonder when I hear these expressions and to me it must just be a person’s character, unless there is a test that shows it? Just wondering??

It’s a great question!

For me, I can only say that I was given an adderall in my early 40s by a friend who thought I had it. It had never occurred to me once in my life due to being high functioning (good student and good at my job etc).

I don’t recall the exact time, but aprox 20 minutes after I took it, I was teary eyed at how different I felt. The clouds parted and the angels sang. I took it for aprox 3 months and my life was so much easier (no upper effect, just not foggy and could actually finish tasks)…. Then my cardiologist explained how it works and put the kibosh on it. Never had it again.

So for me, the reaction to the treatment was the test, and since then, my new doc says he thinks I have it, but again, we don’t do anything about it because I’m high functioning. I’ve only recently learned that having a poor memory is a symptom many have, and that is what has gotten in the way of my life more than anything. I just had to work twice as hard to work around it.

What does adderall do that is so bad? Couldn’t you take it only on important thinking days?
