If you live in the Boston area, I encourage you to participate to help move the field forward faster:

The Longevity Study has received approval from the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of Mass General Brigham, the largest hospital system at Harvard Medical School, under the ID #2024P002140. This study will assess the population’s molecular variation and dynamics, with a specific focus on biological age.

We are now seeking the first 100 volunteers. Sample and data collection will take place between October 31st and November 2nd and coincide with the 2024 Biomarkers of Aging Consortium Conference. Participation is entirely voluntary.

Who can take part?

Generally healthy individuals aged 18 and older weighing more than 110 lb (49.8 kg) can take part in this study. Participants should also:

  • Be free of cold and flu symptoms on the day of collection
  • Have had no infections within two weeks prior to collection
  • Have no symptoms of heart conditions within six months prior to collection
  • Have no known sickle cell disease or anemia
  • Not have donated more than 550 ml of blood during the preceding eight weeks (and no more than one blood draw during the preceding week)

What will the study involve?

Participation involves a single blood draw of a maximum of 50 ml (approximately 3 tablespoons) of blood.

Additionally, participants will be asked to fill in a questionnaire that allows us to check their health status and complete a set of simple non-invasive tests to assess functional and cognitive performance.
