Is it better to decrease protein intake as well when on rapamycin? If goal is to reduce mTOR efficiently

It seems that leucine heavy proteins (like whey, milk) increase mTOR the most, if this and rapamycin is taken on the same day will it sort of decrease rapamycin effectiveness in lowering mTOR?

So instead of caloric restriction, it seems that animal protein (especially dairy) restriction could be the best balance without having to decrease total calories in diet much

FWIW - my usual / typical day includes Taurine supplementation and a high protein intake (incl. whey protein shakes). I take Rapamycin fortnightly. On my ‘Rapamycin days’, I don’t take any Taurine or supplemental protein for that day or the following day. I’ll also typically fast until dinner time on my Rapamycin day. Others on here are far more knowledgeable than I about the science & should be able to chime in…

There is the little we know, and lots we do not. We know that rapa blocks mTOR, leucine cannot overcome that. What we do not know is the end effect of having rapa let the body think there is no food or leucine specifically, yet there is lots of it. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. So, I recommend to be wise about it, but be warned that many people here, and the loudest, think that such careful treading around The Science, not just trusting the currently fashionable consensus but taking into account how often such backfires, is already being a cynical conspiracy anti vaxxer. It is your body, your decision. Good luck.

Bryan Kennedy, who researches this sort of issue at National University of Singapore says that no, the tight bond that rapamycin forms to block mTOR is not something that would be easily dislodged by eating a leucine heavy meal; you just won’t get the benefits from the protein that you might usually get. (at least during the 24 or 48 hours after dosing rapamycin).

@RapAdmin
That sounds good for me then, as I am trying to also do a ketogenic diet so protein intake is still quite high

Though unless taken on an organ transplant dosing schedule it seems rapa decreases but doesnt completely shut down mTOR. So I always wondered what effect things like caloric or protein restriction had alongside taking rapa
