Ever try magnesium? I played with melatonin, didn’t do anything for me. I take a liquid magnesium (eye dropper filled veggie caps), then consume. Tried some of the tabular forms, never worked. This knocks me out.

I’ve had rapamycin benefits, but sleep was neutral.
I’m liking the stack of
Melatonin 5 mg
L theanine 200 mg
Glycine 2000 mg
Apigenin 50 mg

Will add taurine , but not sure what dose yet.

Yes, I take magnesium glycinate daily, but it’s not part of my sleep stack.

It’s cheap and the doses are fairly high. It has many other benefits.
The dosage I normally used in my sleep stack was 2 grams from 500 mg capsules.
You may be able to get it in 1 gram capsules.

Well, crap! As I have posted previously, I have observed my LDL levels rising since taking rapamycin. That was expected so I have been increasingly strict with my diet, eat very little meat, the only fats I get are mainly from olive oil and fish oil. I use whole milk on my breakfast cereal every other day, approximately six ounces.

My BMI is ~22, my waist is 32", chest 43", height ~6’2’, and I exercise regularly.

I have always had good to very good lipid levels before I started rapamycin.

I stopped taking rapamycin ~ 2 months ago and just had a lipid panel done at Quest yesterday. The results are quite disappointing. I guess I will reinstate my Lipitor to bring the levels down.

I simply cannot explain this graph.

It seems to me that sometimes lipids have a mind of their own and probably do things like this all of the time but just aren’t monitored.

Red Mill flax meal at 1 tbl twice a day has been shown to help and of course citrus bergamot if you want the non statin approach.

I know from my own experimentation, copious qty of EVOO blew up my TG/TC/LDL. When I dialed back, significant improvement. YMMV

Well, I can explain that major dip on the 04/22 measurement. Sorry, what can I say, I am old and sometimes forget what I was doing at what time. While I am not a great note-taker I do occasionally write down what I am doing if is a major change in my routine, so I was able to look at my notebook and discover what was happening.

I had stopped taking Lipitor some time ago and was keeping my lipids down through diet, exercise, and supplements. After my first blood test on 01/20/22 after taking rapamycin for approximately 3 months, I saw a sharp rise in my lipid levels, so I re-instated Lipitor.
On 04/21/22 my lipids were sharply lower. So, I stopped taking Lipitor, and as you see in my next two tests, my lipid levels started to rise sharply

Low-dose Lipitor has been very effective for me over the years and I have taken it on and off. I have often taken it during the holiday seasons in the past when my diet was not under control.
I chose Lipitor over several other statins that my doctor had me try. Zocor and Crestor were tried first because at that time they were the “latest and greatest”. I did not like either one as they produced unwanted side effects of slight muscle pain and tiredness. Lipitor has had zero side effects for me and can’t tell when I am taking it other than results from blood tests.
40 mg Lipitor once in the evening has been very effective for me.

I am restarting Lipitor today.

Then maybe go back to your EVOO that has many cardiovascular benefits including lowering oxidized LDL.

Have you had your thyroid tested? There seems to be a connection between high TSH & high LDL.

You can look into magnesium taurate instead of magtein.

Fortunately I have never had any thyroid problems Under active thyroids are linked to weight gain and obesity. Of course obesity usually leads to increased cholesterol levels.

I am just guessing here. Maybe one the doctor’s on the forum can shed some more enlightenment.

Did not see that connection. Many of the supplements people take have more than one benefit other than the one they were taking it for.

I was taking taurine 2-4 grams as part of my sleep stack because it was reputed to extend uninteruppted sleeping periods. Didn’t know it had so many benefits.

I take magnesium glycinate as another part of my glycine intake.
I have a ton of taurine left so I will add it back to my sleep stack and see what happens.

Incidentally, I dropped the taurine be cause I didn’t need it anymore to get a good nights sleep.
This was shortly after I stopped taking Lipitor the second time. This probably accounts for the rather dramatic uptick in my cholesterol levels.

Personally, I go with collagen peptides to get most of the glycine with minimal methionine (organic, frequent third party testing for heavy metals, food + NSF + USDA organic tends to be better regulated than supplements when USP option is limited)

I am with MAC on this.

As a life-long high LDL-C person - now 64 year old, and having zero calcium score in my Coronary Calcium Scan. Scanner’s comment – heart that of a person younger than 35 years. I suggest anyone concerned with high LDL-C begin with a coronary scan.

And, if your LDL-C goes even higher when on rapamycin (as mine did) don’t freak out by it. Again, take a scan and see. It is not that expensive for peace of mind. It will put you at ease. As Dr. Peter Attia says - I would be more concerned about taking the statins - than the rapamycin. When I was 45 yrs. my physician wanted me to go on statins for my high LDL-C. I said I would change my diet instead of drugs (I changed my physician it was easier - lol)

So have you shared your CAC with your doctor, curious how that discussion went? I am sure with your lipids, he had his statin script pad out.

Does he/she know you’re on rapamycin?

How are you thinking about timing of a next scan and/or other CVD tracking markers?
