As a sleep apnea sufferer I knew it was a serious disease but I had no idea the mortality rate was so terrifying:

26% are dead within 5 years

66% are dead within 20 years

Rapamycin is clearly not the cure but I am interested in finding out if it has protective effects:

I wish there were a better breakdown of the mortality figures. For example, sleep apnea can be caused by obesity - does that cohort of people have a higher rate of mortality than those who have a perfectly healthy weight and percent body fat etc but just lose muscle tone of their tongue while asleep as they age?
