Did that enlarged tonsil effect go away after a while? I am getting the same thing where I can feel them enlarged (especially when eating) but there is no sore throat or illness like other times which is weird.

Garden insect bitesā¦6 months ago, I restarted Rapamycin 7 mg with naringin an hour ahead of time one day a week, . I paused to allow my knee replacement to heal. But now is my garden time (my Mini Iowa farm), and I noticed that the mosquitos, gnats, or maybe biting flies seemed more awful than I had ever experienced before, with large itchy welts that last for multiple days. I have even purchased a bug net suit. So I wonder if this has been seen with Rapamycin. Im definitely considering skipping a week. Also first cold sore since my 20s. Has anyone had this experience?
Yes, I get those nasty welts as well. I originally thought they were from mosquitoes or gnats, but it turns out theyāre from the Rapamycin. I posted pictures earlier in this thread.

I did get bit by mosquitos and gnats, but my reaction is over the top. I am definitely skipping at least one dose. Previously thought I was āimmuneā from the side effectsā¦
Iām on my 2nd dose of Rapamycin at 3mg, Iāve got a pretty bad mouth sore. Iām skipping this coming dose and will resume next week.
Iām going to be getting some remedies for mouth sores on hand for any situation like this in the future. It would be handy to be able to eliminate them quickly and not have to skip a dose.
Peter Attia uses something called Debacterol but it doesnāt seem easy to get right now. There is an alternative similar product named UlcerMagic which isnāt exactly the same but is similar.
Salt water gargling doesnāt seem to solve the issue. Xylitol doesnāt solve it. Listerine mouthwash stops it hurting for a bit but doesnāt solve it.
Iām also considering lysine powder. This activates mTOR, but it might be good to have on hand in cases of this. Or it might be good to dose a few days after dosing rapamycin as a preventative.
Elsewhere someone mentioned a product named āwatermelon frost powderā.

I will get a canker sore if I dose >10mg. I normally take 9mg with no sides.

If itās herpes, Lysine is an excellent choice, and if you keep it to .5g on an empty stomach in mult doses, unlikely to upregulate mTOR. Give it a go.

Iāll try it, itās pretty cheap. I donāt think I have herpes but who knows. Doesnāt it also manifest in other ways though like coldsores? I never get coldsores.

I donāt know much about mouth sores other than those caused by herpes. Which rapa does cause in some people. You could still try lysine, of course, but I canāt answer your question, alas.

no grapefruit juice? I do 4mg with GFJ⦠but it is so bothersome.
Lysine is cheap. Iāve ordered some and I will report back if it helps. If not Iāll have to try the topical product UlcerMagic that I mentioned earlier.

Yes GFJ 10oz. one hour before taking 3mg. Sometimes I just eat a GF instead.

I am contemplating taking 5mg with GFJ on a 10 day cycle⦠so 2x a month ⦠on the first and on the 10th and then wait until the next 1st again⦠so 20 days with rapamycin and 10 days to clear it out. This will allow me to manage my fasting better ⦠to 4 days after rapamycin x2 a month. Once I reduce to my desired weight I will drop the fasting to 3 days and then 2 days and maybe 1 day. With GFJ best to take rapamycin after 2 hours to maximize the strength.

I have a similar thing going on. Itās my gums near my wisdom tooth. Iāve had swelling there before but not for years.
I felt really good on the day of taking the dose but the next day I had this.
Iām going to lower my dose from 3mg down to 1mg and take it slow. The body might need to adjust.

Iāve mentioned before that a swish of Colgate Peroxyl healed my painful, rapa induced mouth sores overnight.

Thanks for the tip. If I could get overnight resolution it would be a gamechanger.

Yeh, it was a game changer for me. I was desperate because my ulcers werent improving.
Please report back if you try it. If it works for others as well as it did for me, it would be really useful to keep around for those days you want to test your maximum dosage.

I had some pimples on my face (3-4) and scalp (another 3-4) when I took rapa, and I very rarely got any pimples otherwise. I then took a seven week break from rapa on account of surgery, and all the pimples vanished. I went back on rapa, itās been three doses (three weeks) and the pimples are coming back, so far one on my face one scalp. So getting pimples is looking like a consistent side effect of rapa for me.
Also once I stopped taking rapa, exercise related aches and pains started slowly coming back again. Now that Iāve resumed rapa, Iām hoping those eventually diminish again. Btw., when I was on the Eris/Biocon brand of rapa, my ~50 hour blood level of rapa was 5.6 ng/mL. I then took a 7 week rapa break, and when I resumed rapa once weekly at the same 6mg dose, I switched to the Zydus sirolimus brand. I was on it for three weeks and a blood test at ~50 hours was this time 4.4 ng/mL. Why it was lower the second time around on the Zydus brand I donāt know. Itās possible that rapa accumulates in my body at the 6mg dose, and I was on the Eris/Biocon for 11+ weeks, while on the Zydus for only three. In any case Iām going back on the Eris/Biocon, and will continue to test regularly.
No other effects of rapa, good or bad, that I can tell.

Re slightly different 50 hour rapa levels, I think there is some variability in absorption for rapa so unless everything is identical between doses you are likely to see some variation on different weeks. I always check levels several weeks in a row to get more of an average level before I settle on a dose.
It could also be that the proprietary enteric coatings are different between the brands you are using and one could be more effective.
