Surprising that lemon is included in this category. It’s ph is between 2-3. Lemon juice though is considered a healthy drink with supposed alkalizing effects on urine (not blood) and potential disease-fighting properties.

Sodium bicarbonate is a known performance enhancer if you can tolerate it.

I’d forgotten about this thread. Thanks for reminding me.
Any thoughts or references on dosing?
Here’s a good one
0.2 up to 0.4 g/kg body mass has prevailed as being tolerable (Burke, 2013; Lindh et al., 2008).

A defining feature of chronic kidney disease, metabolic acidosis is caused by the inability of impaired kidneys to remove acid buildup from the body. It is strongly associated with morbidity and mortality. To ameliorate the condition, I have taken 9.75 grams of sodium bicarbonate, in three divided doses, every day for the last five years. The end result is that it has reversed the decline in my kidney function, nearly doubling my GFR from 22 to 40, with no increase in BP or edema. Originally skeptical, my nephrologists are now true believers.
