It’s Skulachev’s drops with SkQ, a mitochondria targeted antioxidant. They will be delivered Monday so I’ll know for sure what it is.

I’m not sure if we are talking about the same drops. What I’m receiving is Skulachev’s drops with SkQ that targets mitochondria.

It is possible that few responded, because they do not have vision problems. So they did not need to try the drops.
That would be amazing if true, @JuanDaw , because it would suggest that despite the “advanced “ age of many of our most prolific members (let’s say >50), one or several of our interventions is keeping our vision intact — if true, I’d love to know what worked because after hitting 50 my vision declined suddenly (like a light switch going off, as my optometrist put it).
I would guess that most people >50 have some sort of age-related vision issue, but I don’t have a RCT to back that up.

I take Lutein & Zeaxanthin for my eyesight. Other than needing reading glasses for fine print and a few floaters in my right eye, my vision is excellent. Although I’m almost 50.

Are you referring to the need for reading glasses?
(Not even Rapamycin appears to stop this unfortunately - and I haven’t found anything else).

well, if you need reading glasses, I’d say your vision is not excellent lol. I’m in the same boat, i can read a book without reading glasses but I can feel the strain while reading, so i usually use reading glasses. So, my vision is ok, but nowhere near excellent. Excellent it was when i was 20 and could read a book from miles away LOL . Weirdly enough, sometimes my vision comes back to almost same as I was in my early years, and then it disappears a bit again. about 7-8 years ago I had my DMV review and I was told to go get glasses. Fast forward last year and I passed it with flying colors. Now I think it is hit and mis, somedays I have eagle eyes, other days more like the vision of a mole rat. Even though have not been able to find the reason, i think it has something to do with certain supplement, or even foods i have/take. The known lutein and zeaxanthin, and vit A etc did zipo to help, so if anything it could be other supp’s. BTW, RAPA did also ZIPO. At some point I had thought that perhaps metformin helped a bit, but not 100% sure. Still trying to find out.

The carnosine drops are for cataracts. I doubt there are many here with cataract issues.

Here's my experience for what it's worth.
I started taking carnosine eye drops at age 61 in June of 2007 after my doctor told me during a
checkup that I had cataracts, particularly in my right eye. I had been taking inhaled steroids for asthma
for nine years and would continue for another ten years. The steroids probably caused the cataracts.
Up until a year ago I thought my eyesight was good. Then I slacked off considerably from my once
a day eyedrops schedule. The vision in my left eye now seems perfect, but in the right eye it’s gotten
fuzzy or blurry and I’m not happy about that. I’m going to try to take the drops two or three times a day
for six months and then I’ll report back.
I do believe the drops at least slow down the progression of cataracts. I recommend them.

Visomitin (Skulachev’s eye drops) also help with cataracts prevention.
Visomitin is a medication that contains SkQ1, a mitochondria-targeted antioxidant, as its active ingredient. It is used to treat age-related vision degeneration, dry eye syndrome, non-infectious uveitis, cataract, and glaucoma ¹. Visomitin eye drops are available for purchase on CosmicNootropic ¹. The product is manufactured by Mitotech in Russia ¹.
I hope this information helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I also don’t have cataracts at this point (69), but my mother developed medium cataracts after 80 and had cataract surgery at 90. Both of my grandparent had cataracts. Taking genes into consideration, I’ll try to prevent it if possible.

To stop or reverse presbyopia you would need to stop or reverse glycation in the eyes. Rapamycin can not do that. There do exist things that might help with that, but they aren’t being developed for presbyopia AFAIK.
I haven’t done much research on this, but I think this is the only FDA approved treatment for presbyopia at the moment. But I don’t think it’s working on glycation.

Yes, allergan doesn’t do anything for glycation or to actually reverse the causes of presbyopia. It just temporarily masks the symptoms.

I seem to remember there was a biotech company that was working on glycation in the eye. They were bought out by a larger company and unfortunately the product was mothballed.

I’m 66. No cataracts. I don’t need glasses for reading or computer work.
But I’m somewhat myopic so I use glasses for driving or at the cinema, for example. I can function without them but they just make it easier.
