HI All,
My friend was on 6 mg/week Sirolimus. She is approx. 120 lbs. And in very good health, 60 years old. I am also on the same dosage 105 lbs. I am the one that recommended it to her, and she has been on it for a little over a year. She was recently diagnosed with
Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV) Encephalitis. She is under a lot of stress with a divorce and also had a small stroke. The dr said that her chances of survival are lower because she is on Sirolimus, an immune suppressing drug. From everything I have researched I donât see it as the cause or that her chances of survival will be lower. Of Course, I feel horrible. I told her that the Dr doesnât know about it used in this manor, small dosage 1 time per week and the data doesnât show it is an immune suppressant at low dosages. Any comments or recommendations would be appreciated.

It inhibits the creation of white blood cells. I concern myself with the trough. I take a much higher dose but wait many weeks between doses so that I have periods with a normal WBC.

6 mg/week for 1 year consistently is not a small dosage. Based on what information do you conclude that at this dosage it doesnât suppress immune system? It DOES! It suppresses mine even at a lower than that dosage.

Did she have the Shingles (Shingrix) vaccine?
Take a look at âresultingâ, thatâs what you might be doing now. You can do the best decision in the world based on current information but have the worst result. Likewise you can do a terrible decision and have a good result. The result shouldnât determine the quality of the decision per se.
I think itâs a good idea to always believe itâs an immune suppressant and never understood why people want to do decisions on a belief that it isnât (based on 1 or 2 studies), with a lot of weight placed on those studies compared to everything else.

Also, if you havenât, if you have access (in the US, you do), you should do labs to see what your levels are on 6mg per week.
It is not necessarily correlated with weight⊠I am perfect proof.
