The comments under Elon’s tweet are so hard to look at. People are just so convinced it’s this monster drug that’s going to kill everyone. Lol

It’s not the flaming arrows, it’s the poisoned ones. :stuck_out_tongue:

It just goes to show you how uninformed the general populace is.

On the flip side, they make me feel much smarter.

While in theory it should be getting harder to import medicines I’m wondering if that is what people are actually experiencing? Are packages getting held up in customs?

Not yet.

I’m worried about tariffs on BRICS nations.

My first two packages that were sent out in early January arrived after two weeks.

My latest package, which arrived in customs on January 31st has been stuck in customs for over a week.

So, yes, customs is taking longer than before already. I just hope my package makes it through!

There’s a chance that India might get it off easier since their BJP leader (Modi) is more likely to be cozy with Trump than any of the other nations [I think Taneer Greer even said that it’s the best country to look for analogues of where the US is heading - way better than Hungary]

I have a couple that hit customs in NY today. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Just contacted Maulik. He said that my package should have arrived by now, but according to tracking it’s still in Jamaica NY customs.

I have a bad feeling I may have lost this shipment.

Some medicine prices may be going up due to the tarrifs, specifically anything manufactured in the US, using APIs (active pharmaceutical ingredients) from China.

After talking to the USPS it appears the package made it out of customs but then got lost in the mail. $650 USD of meds.

Not sure which is worse. :frowning:

I guess it’s back to courier if I can’t find this package.

With regard to illegal drugs, opiates, etc. I get the desire to stop that traffic, just not sure how much of that comes into the US via mail. I’m sure some does but the vast majority of drugs are available on any street corner in the USA or Canada. Bulk shipping of precursors and smuggling of tens of thousands of kilos of finished product is not happening in the US mail system. That’s all controlled by major crime organizations.

In the world of small parcel shipping there will be some short term turmoil but may not be as bad as expected in the longer term.

My guess is that it will cost more to enforce, than it will generate in revenue.

They already have a number of issues to address to make this work, unless they just stop all cross border shipping. Which they won’t do. So what do they need to do to make anything like this “crack down” on small parcel shipments work?

This falls under Section 321 the de minimus exemption

  1. hire a LOT more border guards, someone needs to look at every parcel to achieve what “they” want. Today it’s mostly random inspections of a percentage of parcels.
  2. build more efficient facilities, they will have to micro manage a LOT of small parcels, what is a LOT? how about 4M per day entering just from Canada alone.
  3. more systems and infrastructure to collect tariffs on small parcels. Who does the CBP collect this from? the importer, i.e. YOU…
  4. they started the Section 321 “crack down” and had to turn it back on as they have no way to efficiently manage the collection of tariffs from US customers, at this time.

Tariffs on larger, easy to define goods, is a different matter. The new steel and aluminum tariff is going to hurt consumers on both side of the border. Expect automobiles to increase in price by 20% in the next 6 months in the US.

That has been true for a long time.

FWIW: Order placed from India 02/04/25 cleared U.S. Customs on 02/11/25.
The order is already at my local USPS distribution point. This order is from
Maulik Parekh. The difference in transit time compared to Jagdish is hard to understand.

Do your orders usually go through Nevada? Mine always are processed by customs in New York. I’d guess the difference in speed is the Customs clearance center.

No, mine are processed through NY, I just left out all of the itermediate processing between India and Nevada. LV, Nevada is the destination.

My first order from India over the winter took 4-5 weeks.

Maulik just sent me something on 2/3 and, shockingly, it arrived in San Jose on 2/12. I imagine I’ll have it in a day or two.

@DeStrider has there been any progress on finding your package? Fingers crossed.

Still no sign of the package. I’ve placed a new order for a replacement to be brought to me by courier.

This is my usual time frame. What usually takes the longest is moving out of customs to my local office. Usually two weeks on average.

About to place my first post ‘tightening’ and I’ll keep this updated.

When Customs seizes your shipment, it is a major delay and inconvenience, but most suppliers will replace it. What can you do when your Indian supplier refuses to replace a shipment seized by Customs?

That seems to be the case with a $261 order from Kachhela Medex placed on December 28th.
For months my inquiries have repeatedly been met with silence, excuses, delays, or promises to reship. Yet here we are, going on 3 months. I guess I have to face it that the money is gone.

I used to recommend Anil Gangwani and Kachhela Medex because their prices were good. Once before, when a shipment was seized, he did replace it. Now though, something has changed. Like others on this forum, I have a useless supply of Siraboom from Kachhela Medex that I wouldn’t trust, so that’s another loss.

I even warned him if he didn’t make good on my order that I would have to post my experience on this Forum for others to be aware. But it made no difference.

Perhaps he is having financial difficulties. Whatever the case, my strong opinion is that it is best to avoid transactions with this supplier.
