You clearly have a system that works for you. I do find a number of your supplements expensive. But so long as you are comfortable with your regimen.

I have not eaten red meat in over 40 years. And no chicken for 10 years.

I never heard of oat yogurt. Maybe I should just stop yogurt and stick with Eden Kimchi Sauerkraut.
While it is probiotic, it also has a lot of sodium.

Always trade-offs.

I am 71 years old and I have an intense fear of death. And until the US allows the use of psychedelics for death-anxiety, I will do what I can to stay healthy.

I’m spending way too much on supplements and always looking for ways to find the quality/price combo… I learn a lot from the people on here!

I just saw oat yogurt for the first time last month. I only tried this one because I saw the high protein content. I don’t know what it would taste like compared to traditional yogurt, but as far as vegan yogurt goes, Icelandic vanilla flavor is soooo good. If i were consuming dairy, I’d try kefir instead of yogurt … just tossing that idea out there for you. I don’t know what it tastes like, but it supposedly has more of the good stuff in there.

To make soy yogurt, just to share because I find it shocking how easy it is. You take a carton of shelf stable soy yogurt (where the only ingredient is soy) and I toss it into a bowl inside my instant pot… i empty two probiotic capsules in there and mix (not all probiotics work)… and hit the yogurt button… let it ā€˜cook’ in there for 9-12 ish hours… and done… then i add vanilla … if i want labneh or more Greek style, i simply strain it… and it’s a fraction of the cost of buying anything (see, i know how to save money, SOMEtimes

Good for you for eating kimchi… I can’t stand it but wish I could.

I think yogurt, as long as it’s not loaded with sugar/crap is probably very good for you, fwiw (I am personally vegan because I feel for the animals, and it’s not that I think it’s the only way to be healthy… less meat I do believe is probably healthier though… and I will cheat on special occasion when it’s really worth it… a slice of pizza in nyc a couple times a year, or for a great piece of cake).

My family has said I focus too much on my health and it gives me anxiety, but I think it’s just the opposite. I feel very empowered that I’m doing mostly everything I can for my health, so if something happens, I know I at least didn’t contribute to it.

I see you haven’t tried rapamycin yet. I have no idea what is right for you, but if you are like me, I would think going down that road will help reduce your fear of death a little bit. It’s not that rapamycin has an effect on anxiety, but it’s knowing you are doing something on the cutting edge to prolong your health on earth might help… and it’s been life changing for me and others. For many, they don’t feel anything and are just taking it for the long term benefit, but for me, the happy bonus was it turned me into a sleeper!

I also take LDN for longevity reasons… but it has been known to help people feel less anxious, too… again, I have no idea if this would be good for you. I looooove it and it makes me sleep like a baby. You can get it for aprox $30-40 a month, but if you dissolve your own high dose pills, it’s dirt dirt cheap. (Disclosure, I hated this stuff for the first couple of weeks and was going to stop, and then it flipped).

I take LDN (4 mg a night) for chronic pain. I have heard it is used for longevity. It is also supposed to increase endorphins. But after 18 months on it, I have felt no mood boost.

I have chronic pain from over-exercise and thus it now keeps me from doing any lower-body exercise. Exercise, as you know, is the real fountain of youth.

I would like to try rapamycin. I have been afraid of it given it depresses the immune system. And I don’t know how to get it prescribed. Any suggestions?

That soy yogurt may be simple for you but it’s rocket science to me. The kimchi sauerkraut is very spicy. And that is how I eat so much cruciferous veggies, a lot of spices.

I eat plain nonfat yogurt. And I add pomegranate syrup to it. Yum.

I also spend a lot on supplements. But if I were to recommend one thing, try various plant powders from Amazon or iHerb or Nuts.com. Like olive leaf.

I also love chocolate cake. I used to eat cake I got from a local diner (I live in Manhattan). But now I make my own chocolate. I put in a blender unsweetened soy milk, dates for sweetener, and a little olive oil. Emulsify. I then pour into a glass jar and add cocoa powder that I mix by hand. And I just eat it that way.

And about plastic. I am using as much glass as I can. Who knew about nano-plastics?

I love that you are on LDN. Has it had an impact on you sleep as it did mine? Sorry it has had no effect on your mood, but it is doing other good things for you, from what I’ve learned. I take 4.5. Curious, does it help your pain dramatically or just a bit? I joined the facebook group when I first started to learn more and it’s interesting to see how so many people respond differently to different doses. Lots of trial and error for some. I don’t have that kind of patience, so I’m lucky this one dose worked for me.

I also love knowing you are now my go to for recipes like blender chocolate cake. I will PM you an awesome vegan treat receipe from Yotam Ottelenghi (lots of yummy dates)… and he is where I learned about Pomegranate molasses … and yes, super yum! And this is still on topic because pomegranate contains urolitin A … full circle moment :).

If I lived in NYC, I would not eat nearly as healthy as I do… fortunately for me, there are almost no good restaurants where I live! I save a fortune by eating most of my meals at home … therefore I afford to be a sport on supplements

BTW, Billy’s Bakery vegan buttercream cupcakes…get one next time you pass by… I love those things!

I also love very very spicy food, but yeah, not a fan of that pickled taste.

Ok, back to rapamycin…

First, I probably know less about any of this stuff than anyone here and I’m just parroting what I’ve learned. Others will be much better at guiding you… but …

There are multiple options for obtaining it. For me, I’m lucky that my regular doc gives it to me and I buy it in bulk with a good rx coupon from cvs… I wind up paying aprox .60 per pill. I realize most docs won’t rx it.

There are services online where you can get it from, for example, gethealthspan.com. I imagine others know of other less expensive online options. If I run across any of them, I’ll let you know.

Then there are teleheath docs, like Grant Fraser. He is very active here and he’s also an excellent doctor and a super nice guy. I also consult with him. He rx’s rapa as well. He might be licensed in nyc, or was at least working on it.

And then, there are many people here who skip the doctor route and order it directly from India. It sounds super scary and I thought that was nuts when I first arrived here, but enough very smart people do it here that I then trusted to do it, too. I now get a couple of my more expensive rx’s sent from India and it’s almost free.

We have threads containing all of this, so if you haven’t found those, say the word and I’ll find them and link them for you.

Also, on the immune system … most people here take it once a week or once every two weeks. The goal is to pulse it so it’s not making you immune compromised.

If you start to take it, eventually you can order a lab test from gethealthspan.com for $25 and then it will show your levels (you do this on a certain day after you take your dose)… we all absorb things very differently and some people find out they need to take less, and some people, like me, find out they need to take more. I’m apparently a freak, because at 104 lbs, I need 8mg per week … some men need 4mg… I started taking 1, and then 3 for a couple of weeks and then jumped to 6… I took that for almost a year before I had the labs done. Don’t be intimidated by all this… most never have their labs done, but it’s cheap and easy once the good people here tell you what to do. I’m just paying it forward!

And yes on glass!! It’s so hard!!! And thx… I’ll dip my toe in the water and order some olive leaf!

Thank you for all your advice.

I see my pain doctor in September. I have been seeing him for 30 years. He may prescribe rapamycin. He already prescribed the LDN.

About LDN. I take it on faith. It may be working on the pain but I have since gotten some another problem that is the constraint so I cannot test the pain threshold. Complicated. As far as sleep, I find I need Seroquel at night for sleep. So, again, I take the Naltrexone on faith. But the longevity benefit would be a bonus.

Go to Nuts.com. They have so much that is healthy. I assume you are in the U.S. Their commercials emphasize what most people eat. But they have lots of healthy powders. Or Amazon.

As far as eating healthy. In Manhattan you can get healthy food anywhere. It may not be on the menu. But in a Chinese restaurant, I would order steamed broccoli, spinach and tofu. A little garlic source on the side. But the idea is not to eat pizza and such.

Be sure the pomegranate molasses does not have added sugar. Make sure it’s pure pomegranate concentrate.

Did you see my chocolate recipe? I don’t seem to see my reply.
It’s not a cake. It’s more like a cross between a mouse and a pudding.
I just made some more. It is chilling in the freezer.
I put 3 oz of unsweetened soy milk in a blender, add three medjool dates (no pit), and a little olive oil. I emulsify. I pour into a glass jar. Then I add and mix in cocoa powder until it is real thick. But it is trial and error.
