F, 74, 130#. I initially wanted rapamycin for periodontal disease. However, bad luck, my sciatica came back and I ended up getting surgery last week MIS TLIF for my L4-L5. Sciatica is gone, YEAH! But still numb feet, cannot move toes, etc. Four years ago I learned that I have non-healing bones with a broken metatarsal. I had to use an ultrasound device to heal it. Other than, until a month ago I was in good shape, 2 miles/day, PT exercises, healthy diet.

I’m hoping for feedback on my many questions.
Dr. An/UW study, has participants on 5 mg/wk. Should I start with 1mg/day until I reach 5 mg/wk? Or do I just start with 5mg? Also, can this potentially interfere with my spine/cage/screws healing? Does it help regrow bone similar to periodontics? Is it helpful with my nerves? I tried ChatGPT but to my surprise, feedback changes. I finally have the tablets but now I’m wondering if I should wait until my spine has healed (3-4 months). Any feedback would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Regarding periodontal disease, I recommend you see these two threads. Many of us are making and using a form of rapamycin toothpaste to lower the risk of periodontal disease:

Regarding taking rapamycin tablets orally, most of us here take a conservative approach and don’t take rapamycin when we have any medical issues or surgery, etc. as rapamycin can slow wound healing.

thank you very much for your feedback/links!
